1 · Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your participation in and use of the Human Values Project (“HVP,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), a research initiative focused on ensuring that AI systems align with human values in medical decision-making. Please read these Terms carefully before taking part in or using our research platform.

2 · The Project

The Human Values Project is an academic research initiative that studies and develops frameworks for the ethical implementation of AI in healthcare. Our work includes:

Collecting and analysing clinical decisions
Developing value-alignment frameworks
Researching AI systems across diverse healthcare contexts

3 · Eligibility

To participate you must be:

At least 18 years of age, and
Acting in a relevant capacity (e.g. health-care provider, researcher, or patient).

4 · Research Participation

By participating, you acknowledge that:

Your participation is voluntary and you may withdraw at any time;
You will provide accurate and truthful information;
You will keep confidential any sensitive information shared; and
You grant us the right to use your identifiable responses for research purposes.

5 · Data Collection and Use

We collect and process data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. This may include:

Identifiable clinical decision-making data;
Survey responses and feedback;
Research observations and findings; and
Website usage data.

6 · Intellectual Property

All content, materials, and research outputs created by HVP are released under a Creative Commons CC BY-SA licence. Findings will be published through appropriate academic channels.

7 · Acceptable Use

When using our platform you agree that you will not:

Interfere with the proper working of the platform;
Attempt to bypass security measures;
Use the platform for any unlawful purpose; or
Share confidential information about patients or other participants.

8 · Research Publication

We may publish aggregated, anonymised findings in academic journals, conferences, and other scholarly venues, in keeping with ethical standards.

9 · Disclaimer of Warranties

The platform is provided “as is.” We make no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of research findings or platform functionality.

10 · Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HVP shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your participation or use of the platform.

11 · Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as our research evolves. Significant changes will be communicated to participants; continued participation constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12 · Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the primary research institution is located, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
